What are Pulse Surveys?
Pulse surveys allow organizations to collect and measure data on a specific topic at any given point in time.
More often than not, the type of information you want to collect about your employees differs depending on the year, season, quarterly earnings, current events, etc.
Pulse surveys reflect employee sentiment at any given “point in time.” A pulse survey is different from an engagement, entry, exit, lifecycle, culture, or any other ad-hoc survey. This means that the frequency and language in each survey can vary from the last.
Because pulse surveys are often focused on a specific goal or topic, they are typically used as quick check-ins. A best practice for pulse surveys is to include no more than 8 questions.
Proactively preventing employees from feeling the need to quit is something that our surveys are aimed to address. However, we recommend that pulse surveys be used in collaboration with more specific feedback collection, as many employees may hold back specific information. Often, when employees face serious challenges or difficulties, a pulse survey may not feel like the right avenue for them to voice their concerns. With AllVoices, your survey feedback is augmented with our always-on employee-listening tool so that employees feel heard 24/7, 365 days a year.
Why are Pulse Surveys Valuable?
Pulse surveys are a valuable and efficient data collection tool that can quickly highlight high-level trends, culture issues, or employee needs. Results can be shared with your employees to highlight your company’s dedication to transparency and rapid response.
‍
This directly impacts your company’s bottom line as employees who feel heard are 4.6x more likely to feel empowered to perform their best work.
Pulse surveys are also a proactive way to ensure that your management team is in touch with the general emotions and needs of their teams. This proactive approach acts as an early warning system that encourages employee engagement and critical feedback to be volunteered internally versus to the media, Glassdoor, or another external and public platform.
